The very first interaction between Shion and Emma took place late at night the first month of school at the University of Cincinnati. Shion, Emma, and the other members of the all-nighter crew were staying at DAAP late into the night to finish their assignments for studio the next morning. Shion started walking around, handing out shots of vodka to keep people positive. That is When Shion Met Emma.
Shion and Emma started as acquaintances, but their friendship slowly developed as they shared classes and many nights together in the studio as part of the all-nighters club.
Over the next 2 years, their friendship grew, becoming two best friends who helped each other with school work, relationships, and life.

Things began to shift when Shion, Emma, and their friends moved to Baltimore for their first co-op and became roommates. What started as friendship grew into something deeper, setting the foundation of their relationship.
Once the co-op semester ended and they were back in Cincinnati for a new semester, Shion formally asked Emma to be his girlfriend on May 13th, 2015.
Over the next 7 years, they navigated life side-by-side through school, parties, co-ops, graduation, and eventually moving to New York and starting a life together.
On January 21st, 2022, Shion and Emma received an “invite” to their friends Adam and Anna’s engagement party at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the MET). It was a fake invitation Shion had requested, but one that felt very real, knowing Adam and Anna. The day came, and Shion and Emma dressed up, heading to the Egyptian wing of the MET. Once there, Emma’s parents were waiting for them - surprise! Shion gave a heartfelt and loving speech to Emma, comparing their love story to Emma’s favorite movie When Harry Met Sally.
He went on one knee and asked Emma to marry him in the same spot as a well-known scene from the movie. After the initial shock, Emma’s face immediately turned to a smile. Emma’s single rushed coat of nail polish and her asking “don’t we need to head over to Adam and Anna’s engagement party now?” after the proposal hints that she had no idea that day was going to be so special for the two of them.
Shion and Emma’s love has grown even more since that day and continues to deepen each day. On March 21, 2025, we will all get together to celebrate their forever love! Cheers!
